About the Artist

I love, love creating, therefore ART is simply my calling!
I grew up in a lively household with nine siblings where creating intricate paper dolls with my sisters was a favorite pastime. My parents encouraged my growing passion for drawing and painting, and by age 13 awakened by the downtown art gallery scene and my artistic fire was fueled.
Years later, I moved to pursue a career in art and to my dismay the only career choice offered on campus was drafting. Upon graduation I dutifully worked for an electrical engineering firm, which years later I realized taught me the value and discipline of careful observation.
In 1989 I moved to San Antonio, Texas and enrolled in Coppini Academy of Fine Arts to pursue my life long dream. At age forty the strong connection between my art, life and nature, led me to my true calling and today I create.
I remain a lifelong student of drawing and painting by diligent practice of fundamentals, careful observation, comparison and by using pure vibrant color to capture (what clients say is) the inner character of my subjects. Today I work on personal and commission art and enjoy teaching art to children and adults.
I work in oil, watercolor, graphite/charcoal and clay to portray figurative, portrait, wildlife, landscape and still-life work from my San Antonio studio.
Looks like you had no problem getting around the website. And glad you did!
Although I've studied oil painting for many years I continue to find inspiration in the medium. As a kid I was always interested in art and spent hours creating and absorbing other artist work when ever I could. Also, I use to think I was blessed by God with amazing artistic abilities, and I believe I was to a point. But, more importantly what I learned along my artist way, was art is a skill. Like a mechanic, a brick mason, a carpenter or a teacher to name a few. The more one invests in their craft the better one becomes at it. They become skilled. "SKILLED is having acquired mastery of or skill in something.
Thank you for stopping in and viewing my artwork. And continue to master your skill, whatever you are blessed with.
